EPA continues to provide 24-hour security and coordinate the activities of PRP generators who supplied Remacor, Inc. with secondary magnesium scrap including turnings, shavings, chips and other finely divided cuttings. In all, 29 generators have been identified and issued 104e letters. Several of the companies are in the process of voluntarily removing their materials from the Site under the oversight of EPA and PADEP who control access to the Site. The 45-acre property contains thousands of drums, sacks, boxes and other containers of this flammable solid, many of which are in poor storage conditions. Generators are subcontracting companies to assist them with identifying, moving, re-packaging, and loading their materials for transportation to other facilities for proper storage, recycling, or disposal.
Current activities involve Meridian’s and Spartan Light Metal Products’s subcontractors repackaging and removing product from the site.

On Saturday and Sunday, 3/3/07 – 3/4/07, no onsite work was conducted.
START mobilized to the Site to continue oversight of PRP removal operations. START attended the morning safety meeting held by URS, Meridian’s subcontractor.
Labor Ready, Spartan Light Metal Products’s subcontractor, met a forklift mechanic onsite. The mechanic repaired the brakes on a forklift to be used for packaging efforts by Labor Ready.
URS continued to repackage Meridian’s product from supersacks into 55-gallon drums. Meridian subcontracted trucking services through Schmitt Trucking. One truck from Schmitt Trucking arrived on site which was loaded with 26 pallets (approximately 18,200 lbs) of material. The load departed the site and was transported to Magpro, a recycler, located in Camden, TN.

Meridian anticipates removing all supersacks from four rental trailers. Supersacks are to be staged in Building 7 for repackaging into 55 gallon drums.
Meridian anticipates loading out additional trucks this week.
Labor Ready anticipates loading boxes of scrap magnesium flashing on 03/06/07.

The OSC anticipates Pratt & Whitney preparing for the removal of their product from the site.
