START attended the morning safety meeting held by MHF Logistics who were on site subcontracting for various Generators. MHF shipped 2 loads of material. The Intermet load was consigned to Niapro, Niagara Falls, NY which consisted of 96 drums (12 pallets @ 4 drums/pallet) with an estimated weight of 40,000 pounds. The 2nd load belonged to Winters Performance, Inc and was consigned to Niapro, Niagara Falls, NY it consisted of 96 drums (24 pallets @ 4 drums/pallet) with an estimated weight of 43,033 pounds. Both loads were transported by Hazmat Environmental Buffalo, NY.
EPA OSC Jack Downie mobilized to site to oversee activities and entry to site.
PADEP Mariruth Hoffman mobilized to site and assisted START with sampling and the EPA in oversite. PADEP Hoffman demobilized.
EPA, ERRS contractor Guardian Environmental Services, Inc. mobilized to site today.
The Data Rams and the PDR were not being used because of inactivity on site.
START mobilized to site and began to place flags at grid locations for soil sampling to be done using the InnovX-1000 the first phase in the Removal Assessment. START continues to assist the EPA as needed, conduct written/photographic documentation, and monitor activities conducted on site.

START attended the morning safety meeting held by MHF Logistical Solutions. MHF shipped 2 loads of material. The Intermet load was consigned MagReTech, Bellevue, OH and consisted of 104 drums (26 pallets @ 4 drums/pallet) with an estimated weight of 40,000 pounds. The 2nd load which was shipped for Winters Performance, Inc was consigned to Niapro, Niagara Falls, NY it consisted of 88 drums (11 pallets @ 8 drums/pallet) with an estimated weight of 35,000 pounds. Both loads were transported by Hazmat Environmental Buffalo, NY.

EPA Senior Site Administrative Officer of the Removal Program Rich Messimer mobilized to site to oversee logistic for START and ERRS. EPA Messimer demobilized.

START attended the morning safety meeting held by EPA’s ERRS contractor Guardian Environmental Services, Inc. ERRS is continuing to remove drums and sift debris from burn piles 6, 7, and 8. Once the drums are removed and emptied they are crushed and staged, the sifted material is staged in small piles until it can be moved to the reaction pit to be reacted. ERRS continues to work with smaller piles in case a reaction occurs it can be isolated.
Data Ram #1 had a TWA of 23.1 ug/m3 and Data Ram #2 had a TWA of 28.5 ug/m3 the PDR’s TWA was 0.036 mg/m3. The OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) for General Industry: 29 CFR 1910.1000 is 15 mg/m3 TWA.
Two additional START members mobilized to the Site to assist with assessment activities. START began conducting XRF screening in areas located south of Building 9 In accordance with the Sampling QA/QC Work Plan. A conference call was held between the OSC, EPA ERT (Powell), ERT subcontractor Dade Moeller & Associates, START, and PADEP to discuss the sampling plan and to coordinate a site visit.
START also continues to assist the EPA as needed with written/photographic documentation, and monitor activities conducted on site.

START attended the morning safety meeting held by MHF Logistical Solutions. MHF personnel were briefed by START on evacuation procedures and routes in case of emergency. MHF shipped 2 loads of material. The Intermet load was consigned to MagReTech, Bellevue, OH and consisted of 112 drums (28 pallets @ 4 drums/pallet) with an estimated weight of 42,500 pounds. The 2nd load which was shipped for Winters Performance, Inc was consigned to Niapro, Niagara Falls, NY it consisted of 96 drums (12 pallets @ 8 drums/pallet) with an estimated weight of 35,000 pounds. Both loads were transported by Hazmat Environmental Buffalo, NY.

START attended the morning safety meeting held by EPA’s ERRS contractor Guardian Environmental Services, Inc. ERRS continues to remove drums and debris from burn piles 6, 7, and 8. ERRS will continue to remove the piles and react the material until they have enough of an area cleared to began dumping drums removed from the 2005 fire by Remacor employees. The material is believed to be highly volatile and will need to be isolated form other material before being dumped from partially burnt drums and moved to the reaction pit.
