The Site is the location of an active dry-cleaning facility that was investigated by the EPA Region 2 Pre-Remedial Program. While the Site received a No Further Remedial Action Planned designation, analytical data from samples collected show elevated concentrations of PCE and/or TCE in soil gas under and near the foundation. The current business has been in operation since 1992 however historical records show the facility has been a dry cleaner since 1942. The Site is located along a busy throughfare with residential and commercial businesses surrounding it. The Academia Santa Teresita located across the street has been closed since 2013. EPA is performing a removal assessment at the Site to determine if mitigation of indoor air is necessary to protect human health. As part of the assessment, vapor intrusion samples will be collected in and around the dry-cleaning facility.
